Hello!

Christmas Day we will probably get the whole family out playing cricket e.g nan, pop, aunty , uncles and children. Does any one have some fun family cricket rules? Just so the game is fun and fair and no so competitive, easy for the really young ones to understand and enjoy too.

  • I enjoy our version of camping cricket as it reduces running.
One person bats. (Obvs have a bowler, wicket keeper and the rest in the field).
We have a camping chair as wicket (but can use a bin, wickets ir whatever you choose).
When the batter hits the ball, battery steps aside from the wickets. The person who gets to the ball stands where they picked the ball up and they throw it to try and hit the wickets. If they hit the wickets or if the ball is caught when hit then the batter is out. Or if wickets are hit on bowling. Otherwise batter resume spot in front of wickets and bats again.

I just love that we don’t have to run haha.

  • I don’t think we’ve ever played cricket as a family. I don’t even know the “real” rules!

  • We usually have a BBQ after our games. Our rule rule is ” Sooks are cooks!” Meaning the losers cook :)

  • Hope you had a good game of cricket! :)

  • All rules seem to go out the window with backyard Christmas cricket! We just keep it light and fun! Good Luck!
