  • Doesn’t everyone? i don’t think you can.

  • Yes I get bloating. I don’t take anything for it though. I just let my body do its thing.

  • I actually used to get bloating really bad before I had my son but since having my son the bloating & symptoms during or before my period aren’t as bad

  • Menstrual Bloating seems to increase with age.

  • Yes quite often which I think are hormone related as well. Some remedies are drink plenty of water, eat healthily , drink herbal tea such as Ginger or Peppermint which relieves the tummy in general .

  • I have yet to find a solution to my pre period bloat problem :/ I assume it’s fluid retention, which is made worse by salt intake. So maybe more water and less salt. I find Yoga helps with all things period too

  • Occasionally, more back pain than bloating though .

  • I try and drink plenty of water and find this helps alot.

  • Thanks for asking this question; good and helpful answers.

  • drink plenty of water and reduce salt intake

  • Yes, though as mentioned here exercise and getting in the correct fluids plus a balanced diet helps. Just typical that during that time of the month I tend to not follow that advice enough due to the cravings etc that I also get. As someone else mentioned it would not hurt to get a Dr’s opinion as some things that we just put up with as being female things are not always something that we should. Good luck.

  • Yep, as per the other ladies, eat celery and drink lots of water as well as exercise – I really should take my own advice, but I don’t feel like doing anything when its “that time of the month” lol

  • Celery seed tablets along with vit B6 seem to help me. You need to drink lots of water with these.

  • I have found taking magnesium tablets has really helped with everything to do with PMT including bloating. It took about a month of taking them before I noticed but I also don’t feel as irritable or crampy. They are not too expensive either (you can buy bulk from places like Chemist Warehouse too)

  • I know you may not really feel like doing it, but exercise really helps. And lots of water and acidophillus yoghurt. :)

  • Reduce salt Intake and all sugary and spicy foods.. I have found I get more bloating when I consume all these things and the pain is worse. I get severe pain but now I’m like clockwork so I start lightly exercising and this month I feel the best I have ever felt..

  • My bloating before my period was due to fibroids. Once they were attended to and treated my bloating disappeared. So go to your doctor and have tests done to rule out any serious causes.

  • I drink alot of water cut out salt and eat yoghurt, it seems to help, hope it helps you.

  • I used to suffer bloating before my periods (a long time ago)!. It is good to drink water and to even eat celery – it has a diuretic effect. Try not to eat too much salt also as this retains water.

  • Sorry but I don’t suffer bloating before my period anymore and when I did I didn’t really do anything for it as i thought you couldn’t and it was just something you lived with but I do hope you get some great helpful ideas.
