Hello!

Hi ya all, I have to come up with a fun activity for our work crew. Things in the past have been bring in pics of yourself as a baby and everyone guesses who. Nights out, international food lunch, etc. I would like to come up with something to do at work – there is more buy-in then. Any ideas?

  • At my work, asking people to do a team based activity united everyone in hatred for it. Which I guess kind of worked…

  • lawn bowls. go karting footy day

  • Team building activity planning can be a major headache. I\’ve had to do the same thing for my office in the past.

You could plan an escape room for them! (ref: http://www.snacknation.com/blog/team-building-activities-for-work/)

  • Try getting teams to construct things out of everyday objects – like make a device out of straws that will allow an egg to be carried, or a spaghetti tower that will support a marshmallow at the top (ref https://www.wrike.com/blog/ultimate-guide-team-building-activities/)

  • oh the breakfast idea is great! also why not have the challenge be, to cook up the best dish. make it themed and it will be fun! make an extra rank of challenge by doing sabotages or switches. they have to swap out a whisk for basting brush etc.

  • We did a treasure hunt around the office once. Split into teams to encourage team spirit! The treasure hunt was organised by clues to find certain objects or places. We did it during lunch time so as not to disturb others.

  • Rock climbing depending on your work mates.

  • thanks so much all, your ideas are brilliant!

  • Ten Pin Bowling is usually good or a trivia night. If the company is putting funds into it there is a really good musical team building company. I can’t recall their name but they come in with bongo drums and every person gets one. They then do musical exercises that encourage everyone to keep in rhythm thus working as a team. Its a lot of fun and everyone will have a ball!

  • Bowls are a wonderful off site activity and most people can participate in bowls and it is good fun. Games; such as charades can be loads of fun at work and a good ice breaker and leveller.

  • Not an activity as such but my company always have a full team meeting first thing monday that they always provide brekky for. It was a nice added touch that can make a big difference to team morale.
The best external work activity I’ve done was rock climbing. Keep that in mind if you need to do something off site :-)

  • friendly competition! make two teams and have a trivia night with a prize of entry money prize. get small teams and go on a scavenger hunt. go bowling. benefit the work and do a meet and greet! the team that has brought in the most customers in a month get whatever incentive! :)

  • We had one. We had to measure and cut paper to precise measurements, then fold it in a particular way and it look perfect. We worked in groups of 4 as far as I can remember. In addition to that there was a supervisor who was very fussy. It was certainly teamwork. We did this during cold wet weather so I’m glad it was an indoor activity. Bonus: the company supplied hot & cold food and drinks for lunch. It was held in a room in a small historical museum so we given a guided tour of it too. For some that part was interesting, not so much for others.
