Hello!

Does anyone have experience managing a fast let down? I know I can express the letdowns to get through it though this isnt really fixing the problem, rather putting a bandaid on it. Any herbal remedies or anything out there?? I’m seeing the lactation consultant tomorrow so just wanted to hear your experiences and also anything which worked. At this stage bub pulls off screaming and upset, and generally refuses to eat in the evening although she is hungry (I end up bottle feeding her) she is only 7 weeks old, and this all really started a week ago. I don’t feel like there are many solutions out there and that formula seems to be the only answer!  Has anyone heard of anything other than expressing off the first lot of milk prior to the feed? Thanks for your help.

  • Posture feeding may ease this. It worked for me quite well.

  • No idea really, it’s not something I’ve experienced much of. Only a couple of times has mine been chugging and gurgling through a feed from too fast let down. It usually happens to me when my boobs are too full. So maybe try expressing a little milk before the feed

  • You laying down with bub ontop to feed.

  • I had this for the first few months (I can still hit a target at several paces if i’m not careful) I dont think there is anything you can do, but you do ‘adjust’ ….can I say just go with the flow?

  • I lie back down and the let the flow ease a little before putting my baby back to latch
