I second the Diabetes magazine – they have some great recipes in there. I have a friend who’s a diabetic and loves that mag – some of the food she brings for lunch looks really great.

I quite like looking at the Diabetic Living magazines and website as the cooking is seasonal and supposedly some of it is recommended by real people.

yeah that is a great suggestion and that maybe mom could put up special recipe section. Like gluten free, diabetic, vegetarian, vegan etc. Makes finding recipes so much easier.

Some states run a shopping trip. You learn how to read and understand the contents in the ingredients? Have you seen a Dietician or Diabetes Educator? Make sure you choose those that have a provider number. Some who don’t don’t have proper training and done appropriate studies (you also can’t claim from Medicare or you private health fund – I was sent to one – I lost weight but my cholestoral doubled in 6 weeks). My GP wasn’t aware that he didn’t have a Provider Number. he wasn’t happy with the results of another patient he had sent to the guy either – he also charged a lot more than the genuine Dietician I saw.

Thanks everyone. I have checked the Diabetes Australia website but I was hoping to get tried and tested recipes from MoM because some on the website just’ don’t work.

Diabetes Australia have an infoline too and resources and you could get help with recipes.

Have you tried that magazine that used to be advertised by Rob from better homes and gardens – might be worth looking into – some libraries hire magazines too
