Hello!

Does anyone shop at their local IGA? Are their prices reasonable and do they have a good range of products?

  • To be honest I’ve never shopped at IGA

  • If we just need a few things we will grab them from IGA as its generally quieter and parking is easier etc but for a bigger shop I use Coles. IGA does have some good specials sometimes but on a whole they are more expensive than the bigger stores.

  • I rarely do – just because of location. They tend to be more expensive, in my experience.

  • My local IGA is more expensive than Woolies, but I have to travel to go to Woolies or Coles so I only use IGA for top ups and buy online from Woolies who deliver and sometimes if I am going to the two towns that have the other supermarkets I will drop in. So because IGA is run by local managers prices can be different in each IGA, I would just go and have a look if I was you. They do a lot for the community.

  • Only occasionally

  • I use my local IGA for top up shops and their specials mine has a reward program too they have great local produce

  • I shop at the IGA renaissance. It is a little more expensive but has a really good range. Even though it’s little it has a lot of gourmet things which i like.

  • I would like to shop at IGA more often but unfortunately I’d have to drive two suburbs to get there, whereas I have other supermarkets within walking distance. When I have shopped there I have found the prices to be comparable to the other supermarkets.

  • We have two local IGAs, one is an express and one is an everyday. I shop at both but only for top ups, I do our main big grocery shop at Coles. I find the IGAs are more expensive. Would love to see an ALDI start up here

  • I do occasionally, when my bigger local supermarket has already closed for the day. their specials seam to be as good as anywhere else. Don’t have the range of a bigger supermarket though. Every IGA is different though and it depends how your family shops and eats, definitely worth checking out.

  • No not unless l have too! The prices are higher than Coles or Safeway and the range is small!

  • I don’t but only because I don’t have one close to home.

  • Yes and I LOVE it. the staff are amazing, the mark down on meat can be massive and is still in use-by by at least 2 days, there are sections in dairy and freezer for discounted product. The new price match guarantee means that many brand name products are the same price normallly as the big supermarkets, the homebrand range is great quality also.

  • I pop into IGA if I need an item and usually I maybe in the area . I think their normal prices are dear but their specials are very good . I went into a local Flemings the other day after I dropped my daughter at a friends place and found out they are owned by Woolies . Very similar to IGA and nearly got confused where I was shopping at .

  • I think IGA is just like every other supermarket – keep your eye out for their specials. We tend to shop between IGA, Woolies or Coles and Aldi. It’s a bit exhausting but we tend to save around $20 a shop by paying attention to their specials. Adds up over the year.

  • The other week we went to a Super IGA and I assume it is the same company . I found their sales items were not too bad but their normal prices are a bit dearer than ususal . I went there with my daughter because it was closer to where the car was parked , but I would only go there for convenience sake and not a regular shopper because there is a difference is prices compared to other supermarkets /

  • went there yesterday when everything else was shut though lol.

  • I only shop there when I’m near by. The catalogs I get they do seem to have a big range of popular products at the same as the big supermarkets. My local closed for renos.

  • I shop at my local IGA most of the time. I like the convenience and their specials are as good as the bigger stores. I prefer them over Woolworths any day.

  • They do have some good specials from time to time however in general they are usually more expensive than the other supermarkets. They do provide a few good brands that you can’t buy in the bigger supermarkets.
