Hello!

I break out in horrible rashes from shaving, I can’t use any hair removal products and electric shavers are just not cutting it. Just wondering if any mummies have an epilator and are they worth it? Do they work effectively?

  • They work, but they hurt and gee they take a lot of patience.

  • I didn’t post this question but found the comments really helpful.

  • I just got really bad ingrown hairs using mine. Big red bumps all over my legs that were so itchy it was insane.

  • I wasn’t a fan of my epilator to be honest. I used it a few times then never again. Have you heard of sugaring? Like waxing but without the hot wax. More like a wad of toffee haha you can find a studio that does it or you can make it yourself https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CHv-KgF2pNE
    (video isn’t my own)

  • I second laser hair removal -maybe have a consult and see if it’s something you can do?

  • it is up to you. you might really love it or you might prefer to do something else.

  • I’ve heard that they hurt. I’m going to look into laser hair removal, I know it’s pricey but if you find a place that does good bundle it’s worth it.

  • Asked a friend and she had one and said it was painful!

  • i had one and i only used it a handful of times. i really didnt like it so went back to waxing.

  • Yes I think they are great. They don’t hurt like they did years ago

  • do you have a very good friend who has one who will let you borrow it to try it out to make sure that you will not come out in rashes.

  • I think it suits some and not others. Whatever floats your boat as the saying goes. I have been very fortunate as the hairs on my legs never seem to grow.

  • I highly recommend laser hair removal, if you shop around you’ll be able to find a decent price/bundle and it works amazingly.

  • I found mine very painful and stopped using it after a few goes.

  • I tried one when i was younger but couldnt handle the pain so i opted for getting my legs waxed, although still painful it was over and done with quicker.

  • I’ve used an epilator for years and I think they are worth it. Although depending on where you may use it it can be harsh on skin. Legs and underarms no issue.

  • I bought one for my daughter as she insisted on having one to shave her legs. She was lucky there was no rash but here are some comments she made .
    1. It was a bit painful at first but it got better ( obviously it must cut deep )
    2. Hair grows back slower.
3 She shaves on her bare skin so I am assuming you may have sensitive skin so I would try a razor with shaving cream and see if you still have a reaction . If so it means you have sensitive skin and to be wary of beauty products in general and to check ingredients before purchasing .

  • NOOOO!!!! I bought one for my daughter and she found it way too painful. It’s been stuck in the cupboard ever since

  • I have one but find it painful and most times would rather use a shaver!

  • What a bother for you! Hope you find this works for you? I do not have one.
