Hello!

Did you have to have a tooth pulled after a root canal because it was unsuccessful? I would love others to share their experiences.

  • Yes I had, but not instantly. I think it’s good to try to remain your teeth as long as possible, until it’s clear it needs removal. Always talk with your dentist about the pros and cons of the different treatment options.

  • No l haven’t as yet and l hope it went well for you.

  • My son who is 15 will one day have to have a root canal due to a tooth which has a dead nerve. I think it was from the braces that was removed a year ago . Hope it isn’t too painful >…..

  • apparently THIS IS COMMON.

  • don’t stress about it, hope it goes well either way.

  • Thank you for your comments

  • I had a root canal a few years ago and all has gone well but most people I know have had to have their tooth removed some time later. Mine took at least 5 visits to clean it out before it was packed and repaired. Maybe that is the answer that it has to be cleaned right out of any infection and muck. Good luck.

  • Well worth getting second opinions on any treatment and any extractions.

  • I know of many people that had root canal and then had the tooth extracted – ouch on the hip pocket!

  • Always just had my tooth out – couldn’t afford the other way, but it might have kept a few more teeth in my head if I were able to.

  • No. I opted for the extraction instead of the root canal. It sounded too painful and costly for my liking. Not to mention the more than one visit to get it done. I’m a sook, I know :(
