Has anyone experienced a negative home pregnancy test but was actually pregnant at the time?

  • I haven’t but I know people who haven’t tested positive on the home tests but positive through a blood test

  • I’ve only ever had two pregnancy tests. One by the doctor and one a at home one and was pregnant both times

  • I clicked on this before completely reading the question. I’ve had lots of negative pregnancy tests, but I also wasn’t pregnant

  • Yes! I did 2 tests at home and still felt like I had no energy and not quite myself. I went to the doctors and another failed test there. The doctor ordered a blood test to follow up and it showed on that! I was already 5 weeks pregnant when I found out!

  • Apparently it can be harder to detect pregnancy if you still get your periods as happened to two Mums I know. Both only got suspicious after experiencing different issues during their cycles.

  • It can happen early on if the level of HCG is too low for the pregnancy test to detect. If you think your pregnant, give it a few days and test again. Or else see your doctor and ask for a blood test as that can pick up smaller levels of HCG

  • Yes it was happen with my friend she was pregnant but on test test it shows negative eventually she arrange a scan where she confirms that was actually pregnant

  • Definitely have a blood test. I haven’t had a negative but really really really faint because it was so early in the pregnancy. Good luck :)

  • No, sorry, but I believe this can happen early on.

  • Good idea thanks

  • I personally havn’t but I know of people who have, best bet if you believe you are pregnant is to get a HCG blood test done – That’ll tell you for sure! OR just incase your not pregnant be patient, wait another week then try again, sometimes we get a little too excited too early. my first test came out negative because it was too early, a week later i missed my period tried again and there was a faint line on the test, turned out i was 4 weeks by that time.
