Hello!

I’m about to fly to Queensland. It’s my first time flying plus I will also be taking my 7 and 2 year old daughters (it’s also their first time). Just after any ideas on how to cope. Do you have any tips for a first ever flight with kids?

  • Just to Queensland, so not an overly lengthy flight. Food, drink, things they can do whilst sitting, changes of clothes. I’m betting it won’t be as bad as you’re expecting

  • Hope the flight was a success!
For others in the same situation, I’d say avoid junk food beforehand, take something to suck on during take off and landing (or ask for a cup of ice when you board, especially if your child is prone to motion sickness), take something small to keep them busy (a colouring book or iPad) and try to relax :)

  • Make sure they have something to suck on during take off and landing to avoid ear problems. Then lots of activities to keep them busy during.

  • My first ever flight with the kids was when my son was 9 weeks. Hubby and sister were with me to help. Wasn’t so bad

  • Hope the flight was amazing and you and your kids enjoyed it.

  • there are some good comments here

  • Hope it all went well and the suggestions below helped.

  • Hope it was enjoyable and the kids are excited to fly again!

  • Most airlines give kids activity packs and it is a short flight so much more manageable

  • Take chuppa chops for sucking. It’ll help them take off and land with the air pressure. They’ll love it.

  • How did your trip go with the girls?

  • How did you go on your trip to Qld?

  • The flight is reasonably short, they generally give the kids an activity set to do. Ipods and Ds’s are good distractions.

  • What tips did you end up using?

  • Lots and lots of entertainment

  • Take books, puzzles and small toys that they haven’t been able to play with beforehand, so they are new and exciting.

  • How did your trip go?

  • Hope your trip went great!

  • Colouring in books are always handy.

  • I really like the sound of the lollipops :)
