There was quite a potato shortage, but luckily it’s back to normal now

Our local Aldi has finally started getting more back in stock. Hopefully the deliveries are able to continue.

I am finding these days it’s some of the frozen veggies (e.g. cauliflower) that are depleted in stock.

Apparently there is a potato crisis due to the wet weather which is impacting it chips being available, just another daily challenge for this point in life

I wonder the same too. Its not well stocked enough i beleive specially during the term break

They tell you there is a shortage of potatoes, however we can still buy whole potatoes just fine. Maybe the chip factories get their potatoes imported?

Cut up your own potatoe and air fy them. They are just as delicious and cheaper even!

The reason is because of the flooding in NSW and Victoria. There’s a shortage. Potatoes have increased in price also. Now when the supermarkets get the frozen chips in, there’s a limit on how many you can buy.

Speaking as a Victorian I know that due to the rain & floods, crops that normally got planted in September, didn’t get planted until December, so crops that would have been harvested in December won’t get harvested until March/April.

I think I heard in the news there was a shortage of potatoes and supermarkets were restricting the amount of frozen ships customers could purchase.

I heard there was a potato shortage due to the floods. Yet last night the news said potatoes were plentiful but frozen chips aren’t. So I’m no longer sure on what’s going on

Due to the cold climate, floods and frost, potatoes are not growing the way that they’re meant to as they’re producing extra sugar. Because of this, only 50% of farmer’s potatoes are salable and this is likely to be the case until well in 2023

The weather and effects have impacted on the supply. They will no doubt be back soon enough.
