Hello!

Our household recently had covid, then got a cold straight after. My 10 month old used to go to bed and fall asleep by herself, sleep through the night and wake up around 7ish. Since she has gotten sick her sleep is all over the shop, she wakes around 6 times a night now and takes a while to settle each time. Does anyone have any tips on how to get her sleep back to how it was before?

  • I feel you! We had the exact same thing, if it’s any consolation she went back to her usual sleeping self after a couple weeks

  • It sucks but it will just take bubs some time. I don’t think there is much you can really do. Try stick to a routine and hopefully that will help.

  • Don’t go into her too quickly – give her five minutes to see if she resettles. And I know it’s hard when it’s messing with your sleep, but it may take a few weeks or months for her to go back to “normal”.

  • Sounds horrible after having such a settled baby. No advice here but I hope you find a solution

  • My little one got Covid at 4 weeks old so he didn’t really have a sleep pattern but he had always been a good sleeper. He was super congested for the next 4 weeks and woke a lot more. I found saline drops in his nose before bed and using the sucker really helped him get his nose clear before bed. I just persisted with his routine and then he went back to normal and is sleeping through the night again at 3 months old.

  • It probably takes time to fully recover. Just be patient and slower try to return to the normal pattern

  • I think it just takes time. Just do what you did before getting sick.
We all had covid too. And the routine is out the window whens sick. But it will get better.

  • Wish I could give some advice but sleep is tough! 6 months in and sleep is still not great for us. Good luck!

  • Same happened to us when my son got RSV, 6months on his sleep is still absolutely crap, but slowly improving.
Are you doing what you use to do, and being consistent? Does she need extra soothing for now?
You may just have to start all over again, all I can say is consistency is key.

I recently went and did a residential stay to help with sleep, we started doing the – lay down in cott, patt bum and say Shhhhhh, I also hold is hand. As they start to drift, remove your hand slow the pat down and then eventually lightly tap the mattress.
