Hello!

Hi ladies! Our LO has recently been diagnosed with a cows milk protein allergy and such has been placed on a specific formula. The paediatrician has said it’s not a lactose allergy and is something bub will hopefully out grow. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? This is our 3rd baby and never experienced anything like this before

  • Long time ago but this was me. Mum put me on goats milk and I wasn’t long until O outgrew it and was back on cow’s milk.

  • Yes! mine actually had this even when I was breastfeeding and I had to cut all dairy from my diet. It’s a bit painful at first but was really interesting to adjust the ingredients I was buying and learn new ways to make old staples.

  • 2 out if my 4 have had it
And yes, most likely baby will out grow! My first did at around 12-13 months and the second child was around 18 months. When the doctor suggests try the dairy ladder, give each step a few days or a week before moving to the next.

  • Both my 2 girls had cows milk allergies when they were born. My eldest, now 18 months has grown out of it (or more so grown a bigger tolerance) and can now have most things that include dairy as long as it’s not too much. I found by slowly giving her little bits as she grew she was able to handle it. I’m planning on doing the same with my 5 month old as she starts solids

  • I don’t have this experience with babies, but my youngest developed a diary intolerance when she was a toddler. Luckily nowadays there are many alternatives available.

  • My grandson had the lactose intolerance when he was first born. He has grown out of it now

  • I haven’t before but I’ve heard it can be quite common

  • 3 out of my 4 have had it. Each more worse than the other.
Bubs will out grow it, however don’t rush It!

  • I remember my grandson was lactose intolerant as a newborn. He cried so much in his first few weeks of life because of it

  • Sorry can’t help you with advice but maybe you can look for some support group on fb and ask there?

  • Not personally but a couple of friends have had babies with this. And yes they did grow out of it. The formula was not always easy to find but I think they had a prescription which helped

  • My son had a cows milk protein allergy. He was on soy formula and soy milk and grew out of the allergy around 4. There are lots of different milk options now for those with an allergy.
