Hello!

Has anyone used a TENS machine through labour?

“Hi there, I am due to have a baby in November and was wondering if any other mums have used a TENS through the labour, and if anyone has used a normal TENS instead of a proper labour machine? Thank you.”

  • I have never even heard of this

  • I have never used one but have heard they are effective:)!

  • Did you use a Tens machine?

  • did you use one? :)

  • Did you end up using one?

  • They recommended it for me but I survived with just the gas

  • What is TENS machine? :)

  • Did you end up using it for yourself?

  • Sounds like it has benefited a few.

  • I think the TENS is really helpful during labour.

  • Wow a lot of people used it !

  • my sister used one and swears by it!

  • I have not as I did not know about it .. But I broke my hip and I had to get a new hip. Luck me and I used it then. .. I still use if I get sore joints from sport I love mine.. Brought at chemist 180 dollars HCF gave us back. 170 dollars we need a letter to go with it to claim…

  • I bought a TENS machine for my labour and used it for about an hour during my labour. I turned it up during each contraction and I think it created a distraction more than anything. My health fund covered the purchase. If you are planning to use water you cannot get it wet. I found a hot shower worked best for me.

  • No but my friend did and thought it helped her a lot through her labour

  • I considered this as well, but could not find anyone around that it had been useful for.

  • TENS machine for labour is God sent! I used it when my water bag broke and all through till emergency C, by which time the Gynae tells me I’m fully dilated. i’ve never tried the normal TENS machine but i assume it may not be as effective for labour?

  • Yes. It was great.

  • Monique McKay

  • Only got me so far, ended in epidural as gas made me vomit and shot would have made it worse. Would consider trying again for next one, as long as the labour was a lot shorter!!
