Hello!

I have been looking into natural lighting for our nursery & have found salt lamps have been high on the suggestion list. I have been looking into getting a salt lamp or two for myself as well but before doing that, just wanted to see if others have had a positive or negative experience with them? Thanks!

  • I’ve got a few. I love the ambience but can’t say I’ve noticed any effects on health.

  • My kids all have salt lamps and so do I. I love them, they give off a beautiful glow and they’re great for air quality as well.

  • Just watch they get a crusty residue so sit on a tray or plate and can be toxic for pets if they lick them

  • We have one in each of the children’s rooms. I love the soft warm glow they give, feels very calm, relaxing, soothing. Meant o be great for balancing negative ions. Only negative in our experience is that the bulbs blow all the time!

  • interesting to hear about the asthma, will recommend for a friend. ive been to the salts of the earth place to which is calming

  • ooh following, they look lovely and are calming. I’m getting my first one for my birthday

  • I’ve never heard of them. You should find info on google about them, the pros and cons, if they’re suitable to use in babies roometc. They sound very interesting and a great alternative to electric lighting

  • The light from them is very calming and they are supposed to help with respiratory health.

  • Sounds great!

  • They look great but to be honest i dont think they have any health benifits that are proven.

  • We were given a couple of these lamps. We put on in my daughters room and it appears to have helped her sinus’s and she has stopped sneezing altogether in the mornings. We have the other in a sitting room where we read and the soft light at night makes the room feel warm and cosy. We love ours.

  • Never heard of these lamps before. I’ll have to check them out and find out a bit about them now.

  • I personally think they are fantastic, has helped my daughters athsma and gives off a beautiful soft light

  • some great answers here, I ma look at getting one myself

  • We have a salt lamp or two. The light that is shed is a really soothing light and the lamp did seem to help with sleep, at least initially…but they don’t ward off colds or night terrors or anything like that. They have a lovely effect on the general atmosphere. They smell really nice and feel good to breathe in. My daughter loves hers and at 4 has slept with one for a couple of years, she also loves to lick the light…which I suppose is a good thing. ? The one thing I would say about them is that the lightbulbs blow all.the.time. and are sometimes tricky to get replacement bulbs of the right size and even harder to find ones that last. It’s super annoying in that way. Make sure if you get one that when you turn it off for any length of time that you cover it with a plastic bag to stop it absorbing moisture and dripping everywhere. And I would put it on a stand or something. I totally destroyed the finish on the bookshelf when I forgot to bag it one weekend away. Drippy salt water = no good for varnish.

  • I would just say to be very careful where you purchase from as I got one but it was faulty from the start and it ended up being too much of a drama to have it fixed …I gave up in the end

  • I have just purchased 2 salt lamps last week and they are awesome. I’ve put one in my room and one in my 2.5yr old daughters room and my daughter suffers bad asthma and since I’ve had it in her room her asthma has improved heaps I swear by these and will be purchasing a few more for my house.

  • I’ve never heard of these! Thank you for this post — I’m always interested in new things to try!

  • I was hoping to see more MoM responses as I’m curious to know too. Personally I think they’re more a light than anything therapeutic. Hopefully you’ll get some more answers

  • Have you thought of training for the city to surf, you can all do it. What about the bay runs,
