It can be a really good way to discover attractions or locations you’ve never thought to visit.

I live not far from Port Arthur. We went there often with the kids. Never got boring. Even now I still play tourist down there when family and friends visit from overseas or interstate. I still love it!

I love the idea of playing tourist in my own city! It usually isn’t until we have guests that we revisit many long forgotten and lovely attractions that Melbourne has to offer! This has inspired me to make a list of places we haven’t been to for a long time and rediscover their beauty and charm – thank you!

Also if you visit your local tourist information centre there may be vouchers or special offers for some of your home town attractions and activities.

I do it sometimes, if there are special exhibitions around the city. For example last year there were different cow sculptures around Perth. We went to Perth a couple of times with the map, looking for them. It was a lot of fun!!
