Hello!

Hi everyone! I am struggling at the moment with really bad hay fever symptoms. I’ve taken a antihistamine but it’s done nothing. I’m sneezing uncontrollably, nose is running like a tap and eyes are watering do much I’m having a hard time seeing. Anyone have any handy tips or tricks to calm the symptoms?

  • We got floorboards instead of carpet and its made a huge difference…expensive but with it

  • It’s so different for everyone who suffers from allergy.
Maybe look into mast cell, and histamine.
reducing all histamine foods may help.
    Good luck!

  • I second the vaporiser. Good luck, hay fever is awful! I hope you find something to help with your symptoms. If you do make sure you post it!

  • Have you got carpet ? We got rid of carpet ( exc for one bedroom ) and my cough subsided , before I was coughing constantly . Make sure you vacumm and wipe dust at least once/twice a week and see how you go . Also maybe try Blackmores Black Liquid Echinchea as I use it for respiterory infection and it is instant relief .

  • yeah clarytyne is supposed to be good. but it seems that you are fine judging by the comments.

  • I can truly sympathise with you. I take hay fever medication 12 months of year. I have found some medications work for me and others don’t, it is trial and error I am afraid to say. When it is really bad I use an antihistamine and nasal spray. But you must remember when you get it under control to take them for a couple of weeks beyond the symptoms going. Good luck.

  • do you have a vaporiser? if not invest in one. they are great and with a bit of eucalyptus oil definetly help with the hayfever symptoms.

  • Some antihistamine tablets are more effective than others. There was obviously an ingredient in your cold/flu tablet that maybe wasn’t in the antihistamine. I find Claratyne is really effective for me, while others not so much. Shop around!

  • SALINE or a neti pot may help.

  • This isn’t a direct answer but i used to try taking hot milk and honey before bed to help me sleep as it was difficult with a blocked, runny nose. Apparently the warm milk increases flem build up under these circumstances, so it doesn’t actually help you sleep, kind of counter productive. I do use some vicks vapour drops, anticol etc which can help with sore throat side of it as well as temporary relied from blocked nose.

  • Now I’m confused, I don’t know what it was! I went to bed, expecting it to be gone when I woke up. But I was still snotty and could feel the tingles of sneezes. So I tried a cold and flu tablet. All good now
