Hello!

Hi all. I’m wanting to put myself back on a diet but unsure of where to start. I know last time eating breakfast for me worked but I really didn’t enjoy eating first thing as some days I don’t get hungry until 2pm. Also what other drinks besides water are good to have? I don’t mind drinking water but everyday it gets boring. How did you start your diet and was there a reason?

  • I drink alot of water and cut out snacks!

  • I don’t do diet anymore – it never worked and will not work.
I have developed a habit to ask myself a question before selecting my food.
Adding a dash of apple juice to the water helps with just a little bit of flavor to entice you drink more.

  • DO NOT DIET. You only set yourself up to fail! It needs to be a lifestyle change.

Don’t skip meals! If anything you should increase them. Eat breakfast/lunch and dinner and have snacks. Everything in moderation and watch your portion sizes. 8 cups of water a day… Keeps you hydrated and helps keep you full.

Your metabolism needs a kickstart if you don’t fuel your body it stores fat. So make yourself have breakfast even if it’s just a fruit smoothie. Add fresh lemon or lime juice to your water, herbal tea if that’s your thing.

Cook from scratch and avoid takeaways and processed foods. If you make the change you may feel extra sluggish, even head aches for the first week as your body is getting rid of toxins.

  • Eat as close to natural as you can. Throw out the pre-packaged, highly processed products. Fill your pantry with fresh fruit and veggies and your freezer with fresh meat. Cook meals from scratch. And exercise

  • I lost 30 kilos by one simple rule of making sure it was as close to natural and raw.
Our bodies aren’t supposed to digest complex processed foods.
So the more natural the better :)

  • Herbal teas are good or add cucumber or lemon to your water

  • some very help full answers here

  • Try oats/porridge, then try putting slices of lemon in your water..also herbal teas and black coffee are good

  • If you don’t feel like eating in the morning protein shakes are really good

  • Tea is good, especially green tea. Just add lots of veggies to your diet and snack on apples. It all helps.

  • you can always add some lemon to your water, also a cup of tea and coffee without milk or sugar can be good for you

  • They say that eating within 1/2 hour of waking up kick starts your metabolism, so I wouldn’t advise skipping breakfast. I’d have something even if only small, like some fruit, vegetable or salad, a smoothie, something. Then I would speak to a professional like a doctor or dietician to see what is best for you. I don’t think fad diets are the way to go, adopting a healthy lifestyle is what is needed.

  • There are so many diets out there and are confusing, I would start with seeing my Doctor first as they will help or even refer you to a dietician Good luck

  • I drink water with a tbsp of apple cider vinegar before my meals. Also start by cutting out anything processed! Stick to fruits/veges/proteins/nuts, you can make beautiful ‘clean’ slices and treats using honey/agave nectar/maple syrup/apple purée as sweetener insted of sugar.

  • I use quick trim shakes as I always struggled with breakfast but now I just have a shake then for lunch some soup or another shake then a meal meal but just cut down my portion size.
Have you tried water with either a slice of lemon or lime as I’m the same got very bored very quickly of plain old water.
Good luck on your weight loss journey.

  • I wanted to lose weight, have more energy, sleep better, and improve the condition of my skin. I too have a problem with eating breakfast, so I start most days with a fruit smoothie, with fruit, chia seeds, ice, skim milk, some yoghurt and honey. It keeps me going until lunch. I try to have 2/3 of my diet as fruit & vegies. Most times I’m o.k. until I get the sugar cravings after dinner. That’s when I really need the willpower.

  • I started diet to improve my health long back. But It was different , I used to eat most of the healthy food, raw veggies, fruits, home made food , milk and curd. Just avoided market food most of the times. For drinks try adding lemon and mint leaves in your water jug and leave it for an hour and then drink, its just amazing. also try hot water with bit of black pepper powder and lemon it in. I used to had no junk/breads in 2 meals in a day during diet and used to had anything in 3rd meal .

  • There’s a few things I recommend. Firstly write down what your goals are, why you want to change and talk to the people surrounding you so they know your goals and can help support you.

Secondly start with small changes. For example, start having three meals a day for two to four weeks to create the habit before doing something new.

Also remember to listen to your body. If you’re not hungry at breakfast, don’t have anything. I’m aware of all the research out there and that most people will recommend that you don’t skip breakfast, but every person is different so do what works for you. Just make sure that you still consume enough food to keep up with your activity levels.

Thirdly, keep in mind that coffee and green tea are appetite suppressants, however in saying that green tea is good for you. Experiment with different flavours of tea and look up some different fruit and green smoothie recipes. Definitely focus on your veggies though if fat loss is your goal.

If you want a bit of help getting started and have a bit of extra support I definitely recommend Ministry of Strength. They do up some great nutrition plans and are really good with support and encouragement.

    Good luck!

  • Fill your plate with at least 2/3 veggies. I have a bottle of lemon juice I squeeze into my water to help give it some taste.

  • Green or herbal teas are good, lemon or lime juice added to the water. You could also try a smoothie for breakfast as that might be easier to have.
