Hello!

I have really oily skin at the moment, I don’t know why. I’ve just lost 12kgs in the past 6 months and since its been a problem. I’m looking for products for my face that I can use day and night to help. What’s the best thing you use for your face?

  • I would be trying clay masks but I’m not sure if they are a long term solution.

  • I am a beauty therapist and when you lose weight it can change your hormones. Go and get a facial and skin assessment, it would be your best bet at fixing it up.

  • Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser – cheap, sensitive and used by a lot of make up artists. Sold. Sold at woolies and chemists

  • go to a beautician and see what they recommend

  • I find water and water alone is the best thing for your skin

  • Make sure you are drinking enough water first. Unfortunately everyone’s skin is different and will take to different brand/formulas. It so just be a trial and error thing until you find one that suits your skin.

  • there are some good comments here

  • There are so many different options out there but its hard to say what would suit you and your wallet as yuo didnt mention your age.
Nivea is a good middle of the road brand as far as price is concerned.
I would be very careful and try to stay away from cleansers and toners for teenage problem skin as that could end up swinging you the other way.
Go to one of the stores like Priceline and perhaps ask if they have any samples you could try. Failing that Myer but you might find that they will try and sell you more upmarket brands.

  • When choosing a product whether it be facial wash and moisturiser make sure they are water based same for your foundation as well

  • Try Vasaline Intensive Care, I have found this to be great for all over the body and even the face, it doesn’t leave an oily feeling on the skin. Also try different brands at shops (testers) as your body has changed and so your skin sometimes needs different products. Nivea also have some good ones. Drinking more water may help.

  • I’ve just started the dermalogica clear start range and my skin is feeling great, however all the oil and cap is being brought to the surface to get rid of it. But I can definitely see a difference

  • Prob go to local beauty salon the might b able to help with suggestion of products.

  • I have oily skin too so I will try some of these suggestions.

  • You can usually get a lot of good advice from big department store cosmetics counters (like Myer, David Jones). You could also try goats milk soap

  • I would look a bit deeper into why I have oily skin. Medications. Hormonal birth control and hormone replacement medications can cause an increase of oil production. Likewise, virtually any medication can cause dehydration and lead to a production of excess oil when skin overcompensates for the lack of oil and Hormonal changes. Check you sebaceous glands see your Doctor and ask about a blood test. Then look for the right products for your skin type.

    7. Stress. In response to

  • I would change your brand of moisturizer and give yourself a micro scrub. Try a combination moisturizer as this might help.

  • look into the oil cleansing method…weird but it works

  • I too suffer from oily skin, I find the cleansers that strip the oil from the skin make it worse. I like Skin Doctor’s T-Zone moisturizer it works really well to keep the oil away throughout the day, and keeps make up looking good. Just remember, oily skin gets less wrinkle!!!

  • Thanks heaps ladies,
I have heard that changing your diet and exercise can cause this.
I dont have much sugar if any at all in my diet so must not be that.
Im just looking for a cleanser and toner or something.

Ive tried the egg white thing, My mum has does this her whole life
but it doesnt help oily skin, it helps dry skin I assume.
Ill look into a few things and talk to priceline etc :)
