Hello!

I know this is a common question but my 2 month old  baby wakes constantly (every 5-10 min or so) every time she has a sleep during the day. It doesn’t matter how she falls asleep or where, she gets squirmy and wakes even if she’s in my arms. I can resettle her in my arms easily enough but it only lasts another 5-10 min. This continues until she is ready to be awake (1-4 hours). She sleeps quite well at night. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

  • Sometimes babies are not settling well for a sleep because they are overtired and kind if hyper.
A good routine day and night is important.

  • I’m wondering if you might be able to carry her in a Baby Bjorn carrier or sling while you go about your day. That way she’ll either stay awake or fall asleep but be happier because she’s with you.

  • Try baby in a rocker or a swing.

  • nope, mine is a shocker to! hope bub has improved since then. im looking into the sleep sence program

  • If she isn’t crying or upset when she wakes up and shows no signs of going to sleep have you got a play activity mat or similar that you can put her down on, she may lie there for awhile then go back to sleep. If you have a bouncer you could put her in that. That way she is not lying on the floor if you prefer her not to.
Do you play with or talk to her much before put her down for a sleep. She may be getting too much stimulation. It is so easy to do realising. I have been guilty of doing to while changing baby’s nappy. Trouble is, no 2 babies are the same so what affects one may not affect another. I have made plenty of mistakes.

  • If she is happy then she might just be a night sleeper. Or she may change soon. Some babies don’t need much sleep in the day, others do. If she is unhappy perhaps pop her in a carrier or a pram and go about doing whatever you need to do. She may fall asleep once you stop focusing on it.
