Hello!

My son is just over 1 year old and I’m still breastfeeding him at night. When i don’t he tends to throw a tantrum. We’ve tried a couple of things with no luck.

  • Oh gosh, both my babies self weaned. The more they ate solids, the less they wanted the breast

  • Try to reduce the length of time you feed him for gradually until you stop completely. Can you express some and put it in a bottle or sippy cup, then switch to toddler formula (apparently it is sweet like breastmilk) or cows milk. I don’t know what else to suggest or other methods you have tried.

  • Im in a similar situation! My daughter won’t take a bottle, regardless of what is in it. She also has a dairy allergy so she can’t have cows milk. I tried plant based milks a couple weeks ago and she was not interested. I tried again yesterday and she almost drank90mls!! They definitely know when they are ready to wean. It can be a long process though

  • I don’t have an answer for you but wanted to share I feel your pain my daughter is nearing the big 2 and everyone keeps saying the same thing still feeding ???? I get it’s a beautiful thing but feeding a 10+kg baby is tiring on the body.

  • He may not be ready to be fully weaned yet. Maybe leave it for a little longer? Good luck :)

  • Is it out of hunger or more for comfort? If it’s comfort then teaching him to settle on his own will stop the breastfeeding nights!

  • Let him help preparing his bottle (by helping I mean observing and maybe holding a spoon). Hoping he would be interested on having the bottle and “forget” about the breast. It will def take time

  • With my both kids i just stopped…3 days of winging and they forgot about it
