Have you tired cutting the tip off the dummy, as it changes the feeling/suction….
Or give it to the Easter bunny fairy lol the the next morning the Easter bunny fairy has left a present to say thankyou

They could give it to another baby (obviously that baby wouldn’t really use it), so that your child feels like he has done a nice thing. Or get him to put it in the bin on rubbish day and watch the garbage truck collect the bin and wave bye bye to the dummy. Then they soon (might still be a few tricky bedtimes) realise that the truck has taken away.

Give it to the Easter bunny or the garbage man

Maybe you both could ‘send’ it off. Tie it to a balloon or something

My eldest is the only one of my children who had a dummy, we ended up giving it to Santa one christmas when she was 3. We felt she was ready at that time, as we didn’t force it.

Our daughter was very reliant on her dummy for bedtime. One day my husband said to her ” your a big girl now you don’t need that thing” and threw her dummy in the bin. I thought oh no sleep for us tonight but we didn’t look back. Off she went to bed no dummy and no problem.

If it is the right time of year the dummy can be given to Easter Bunny or Santa.
Be firm and refuse the dummy during day time sleeps/rests first. You may have less sleepless nights that way. You could try the other suggestions. I wish I had thought of them. Maybe give another comforter wrap or toy in exchange for the dummy.

We did a few steps with our lot we cut the dummy and my son said it’s broken. He put it in the bin by the end of the day. No problem never asked for it again. We left the dummy at a friends place for their new bub and that worked too! I have heard of parents putting the dummy in peppermint flavouring and vanilla infusing it and the kids hated the taste and stopped using the dummy. You could swap the dummy for a night snuggle toy like a teddy the child can assist in buying this and giving the dummy up to the shop as payment?
