Hello!

My hubby has caught a terrible case of the flu (and not the ‘man-flu’ strain, unfortunately it’s the real thing! tee hee hee). We are hosting a large gathering in a week and a half and knowing my luck (and Murphy’s Law!) I can foresee either my children (aged 5, 3 & 23mths) or myself catching hubby’s ailment just in time for our gathering. I’m after any MoM suggestions or ideas in terms of preventative measures (besides exiling hubby to the kids’ cubby for the duration of his ailment!) so that the children and I can avoid the discomfort that hubby is clearly going through and all enjoy the upcoming gathering. All ideas and suggestions are very greatly appreciated! How do you avoid getting sick?

  • Use hand sanitiser, use masks, keep your distance (if possible), and make sure you don’t share cups or glasses etc.

  • I put disinfectant in a spray bottle and regularly spray bench tops, door handles, fridge doors, toilet. Pretty much anything tge infected person comes in contact with. Also, keep yourself healthy by eating well, exercising and lots of sleep

  • well if you see someone sick try to avoid them if you can make sure your healthy and keep your fluids up, try to eat healthy and take vitamins if necsessary

  • If it’s bad flu, it’s likely hubby will still have it for the gathering. I take olive leaf extract and spray something like Glen20 or plain old disinfectant around.

  • Taking some zinc and iron tablets can help to alleviate flu symptoms – always check with your GP first before taking vitamins though.

  • Maybe just get him to sleep in a separate room till he recovers and just make sure you all wash your hands, hand towels etc. and do not share .Viruses are hard as it is in the air so anyone can catch it .

  • If you’re living with a flu sufferer, there’s no way you’ll make it through without someone else catching it. General health is a good start. I spray disinfectant around where the sick person has been, things they’ve touched. Up your garlic intake. And good luck with it all

  • Try Doterra Oils they have been awesome for myself and my family

  • I avoid people. I make my own chicken broth in the slow cooker with lots of veggies and heaps and heaps of garlic and ginger. I drink lots of water. Exercise regularly. Try and get enough sleep. I still get sick, but not often and not very bad

  • Quarantine you hubby! And make sure he plays no part in food prep.

  • Buy the Dettol products and keep spraying and wiping down everything hubby touches and spray the house regularly to keep his germs at a minimum. tell him no kissing or cuddling of you or the kids until he is better

  • I agree with trying not to spend much time near hubby for a bit

  • I agree Isolate hubby. you could all check out olive leaf oil as it lessen’s the length of the flu time.
You all need to eat more veggie rich in iron and zinc. He must sneeze into tissues and dispose of the in a bin as soon as he using the tissue. Do not cough into the air. Bad! Cough into your elbow if you must. Drink lemon tea. Do not dehydrate. How you don’t get it or the children. Have a great gathering!

  • there are some good comments here

  • Isolate hubby as much as you can for the whole family’s sake, we do this when anyone is sick as my husband’s immune sytem is low. It does help. We also get the flu shots. Eat healthy, take a multi-vitamin. Hard but practical.

  • when one of us gets sick, we try to keep that person away from the rest of us as much as possible. tough love

  • Haha gotta love man flu

  • Wish I knew the answer – just coming down with something now!

  • Plenty of fluids and maybe something like Sustagen if you are feeling a bit run down. Although i do like your idea of quarantine.

  • Put hubby into quarantine! Hope you stayed well!
