Hello!

As I am getting older I am getting quite a few ‘open pores’ on my skin especially around the nose area. I wash my face with cleansing soap and then use a toner but this does not seem to be helping. Any clues??? Do I need a special cleansing lotion?

  • I agree with the steam bath followed by cold water rinse. An at home peel mask ( char coal, clay) followed by a gentle cleanse is good too, idem for exfoliating ! I wouldn’t smear too much make up.

  • maybe lasering could reduce the size. have a chat to someone to find out

  • Thanks for asking this question :) I too suffer from large pores which get clogged way too easily :( – I will be following these answers and also trying them out – thank you everyone x

  • There are many strips on the market from open pores .. Ivs never had the problem so can’t say which one works

  • All great helpful tips that i want to try too!

But also, if you wear make up, definitely wear a primer, if you dont already. clogged pores tend to look larger. Primer tightens them and stops that from happening :)

  • Thanks very much for your valuable advice!!! Will try them all!

  • I have this problem too. I’m going to try a few of the ideas other people have given. =)

  • I use a facial wash and rinse in the shower. I do use a man’s shaving brush to lightly scrub the face with my facial wash helps clean the pores. I too rinse with cold water!

  • If you make sure that you rinse your face with really cold water after you give your face a good steam this should help a little bit. Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizing CC Cream, which is around $20 is supposed to be good. I haven’t personally tried it but have been told that it is great.

  • I use witch hazel morning and night as a toner and find it excellent for closing pores. I also finish my shower with cold water to help close them.

  • I think the previous poster has given some good advice. I’ve heard that going from a sauna into a cold shower (back & forth a couple of times) is good. Something to do with the process of opening up & then constricting supposedly helps. Pity most of us don’t have a home sauna to use for this remedy!!! But steaming your face over a bowl of water is a great alternative.

  • I steam my face once a week followed by a cool water rinse. Then I apply astringent. Lemon is supposedly good too, being a natural astringent

  • Don’t have an answer for you – I’ll keep watching your space in case you get some that might help me too. LOL
