You really do need a cat. Try and get a rescue one that isn’t pedigree pretty. If you can’t get a cat you won’t get rid of them without a professional.

Id throw some baits into the roof maybe

I would use bait of some kind!

I believe there are traps of some sort that you can get that catch them. Then the professionals come in and take the traps away so there’s no nasty smell!

I let our cat up into the roof cavity and the mice and rats disappear – she doesn’t even catch them. As CHERZ said below, just the smell is enough!

Be careful or using ratsack i did and we had a awful smell so much so my son couldnt sleep in his room as the smell made him throw up. We were lucky to find the body of it under some of the lining in he roof. we use rat traps just inside the man hole and check regularly. once the rat is out of the wall get someone to climb up and check along the wall lines in the roof to make sure there are no holes and if there are plug them up so the mice will be easier to catch in the future.

I throw ratsak up into the roof cavity. Sometimes, the mice die up there and there’s a bit of a smell, which you need to be aware of. But mostly they escape and die elsewhere.

Keep all animal feed in containers and don’t give them the opportunity to find scraps and crumbs. Mice can be a problem at different times of the year. Many people seem to have success with traps. Most important is to find where they are getting and seal the spot/s.

I actually seen a clip on TV about the flower vendors having trouble with rats eating their flowers (in the city) they tried poison and all sorts of things, then eventually they brought in a cat. Problem solved..apparently rats don’t like the smell off the cat and they pack up and go else where.
I know your problem is mice but have you considered buying a cat or borrowing one.
If this is not an option I would bring in the pest people.
