Hello!

I keep my eye glasses in a case but they still get scratched. Any suggestions?

  • I’m pretty bad with my glasses as they’re basically glued to my face. I never store the ones I’m wearing on a case. I’ve found that buying kebs with protective costings help them last longer. Also using the glasses cleaner spray and cloth help – but if they get covered in muck, rinse lens with hot water first do you don’t scratch them as you clean.

  • I only put them off and in the glass case in the night and in general make sure I never have them on a hard surface.

  • Unfortunately this happens – you might want to pay extra for scratch resistant lenses.

  • I always cover my glasses with a soft cloth then put them there glass case

  • I’m terrible with mine. I leave them on the nightstand while I’m asleep and never put them in their case.

  • The biggest thing is to be careful what you clean them with. Double check the inside lining of the glasses case to make sure nothing small or sharp has gotten in there which may be scratching them

  • A great lined case with a decent cloth should help but always cleaning with a clothing instead of clothing, etc will be a great help.

  • I always wrap mine in the cleaning cloth when I put in the case. Not sure that it totally works but no scratches to date.

  • I try not to use clothing to clean them which isnt always easy when I don’t have the cloth handy with grubby toddler hands! But other than that and keeping them in their case there isn’t really much different I do either.

  • specsavers have a deal 2 for the price of 1 so you could next time you need a new pair get this deal so if you do scratch one pair you have another as back up!

  • Maybe you need a case with a different lining? If they’re in a case, they shouldn’t get scratched. Also, if it’s a soft case, be careful of what’s near them – something really sharp like keys might still damage them.

  • Keep them as clean as possible (use a special cloth and lens cleaner) and they shouldn’t get scratched in the case.

  • I keep them in a case at night and clean regularly. Maybe take them to the optometrist and see if they can remove the scratches? My lenses get replace every two years.

  • Ive been really good over the past couple of years, always having them in a case if Im not wearing them and only ever cleaning them with the spray provided and the cloth that they give you. Never had any problems :)

  • best to be conscious of keeping them as much as possible in their case when not being used to keep them in good condition and as scratch free and clean as possible

  • We use a cloth and spray or lens wipes and always put in a case when not using.

  • Try to keep them clean by cleaning them a few times a day. Store them in your case with the optometrist cloth wrapped around them. I think it’s hard for them not to get scratched over a long period of time though.

  • I keep my glasses in a case and clean them but do still find little scratches. I do clean them daily.

  • I am guilty of not looking after my glasses too. If they are in a case they will need a cloth that should had been supplied by the optometrist, this is to protect them. I use the spray from the optometrist for cleaning with the cloth supplied. Just make sure when you clean the cloth that it does not have any grit in it,

  • Coastalkaryn – I like the sound of the little tool that tightens glasses. Do you have a photo of the tool?
