  • You don’t need friends to avoid craziness. Just get yourself out of the house. Put bub in a pram and head out for a walk. Get some fresh air, walk to anywhere, just to get out

  • What is Fifo? I suggest the only way to meet people is to connect and get involved in the community. Check out if there’s a community or neighborhood centre, library group – kids storytime or bookclub, any hobbies or interests you have ie my mother in law made some friends at a crochet group run in a local store, volunteer somewhere that interests you (depending on the age of your children as to what you can get involved in), join the gym , mothers group/playgroup, baby clinic group (again depends on the age of your kids), do a google search on the suburb you are in and see what comes up. I made a really good friend through prenatal yoga, another through my daughter’s swimming lessons, another though mothers group- its surprising how you meet some people

  • I would join a play group and if you get along with th mums suggest a night out once a month for mums only. My playgroup do that and we go out for a nice meal and a drink for the mums that are not breastfeeding while daddy stays home with the kids we get a night off. It great and opens up a different kind of friendships with in the playgroup. It means we are a lot more suportive of eachother in lifes issues and have people to lean on in the hard times. etc

  • Some good suggestions I have no friends either yer people from work and play groups and sport just no real close friend I sometimes wonder why I have no one in my life

  • Play groups .

  • Join a Playgroup! Go to the library at story time, head to the park and chat to other mums.

  • Go to the library – they do a lot of mother toddler things here.
join a club of interest i.e. sport, art etc

  • Knock on some neighbours doors with muffins or something… Ask the local general store about any mums groups or ANY groups. I’m in the country too and go into town a lot. Have made friends with the neighbours (few kms awat) and I pop in once a week for a cuppa. I got to the old ladies craft group. Even try the local churches and just go to stuff, tell people you’re interested in connecting/making friends and they may make more effort. Some people assume we have it all together and don’t know what we need:) Making friends is hard work, some people aren’t interested or don’t have room in their life. move on and try others if that’s the case. Hope you find people to connect! Us mums so need other people!

  • Depends on the age of your children. If they are little there are playgroups, dancing, soccer, gymnastics. I meet a lot of mums this way. Otherwise try and see if there is a FIFO fb group or a mother’s group in your area. Is there a popular park nearby? I’ve met lots of mums just taking my girls to the park too.
