Hello!

“Hi, my 12 month old has a terrible cold at the moment. He’s had colds before but this is his worst and I’m wondering what other Mums have found worked. I’ve found the Vicks on the singlet and the vaporizer helps him, keeping his fluids up and also wiping his nose to keep it clean and clear.” How do you treat a babies cold?

  • I did often Euky Bearub on chest back and foot soles. Saline nose spray and a snot pump and the head end of the bed elevated can ease the breathing too.

  • Hydrolite powder in the poor love’s water, and lots of love and cuddles xxx I too am a huge fan of vicks and a vapouriser. Sounds like you are on track to a speedy recovery. Mum says a spoonful of honey each day too x

  • Cuddles, bed rest, baby wearing, the vapouriser, regular panadol, food that eases their throat and is easy to chew and swallow

  • Lots of warm snuggles. Keep up with what you are doing maybe Vicks on the feet too.

  • vicks vapouriser and fess good luck

  • See a GP

  • You just have to let it pass. Using fess to clear the nose will make him more comfortable.

  • you can also use an antihistamine to help dry the nose

  • Fess and bulb syringe are my life saves. Also vaporizers with a little eculiptus oils if she gets a bit chesty

  • Vicks and a vaporiser it what we use to combat it.

  • Good advice below – hope it helped.

  • Rubbing the baby balsam on the chest as well as the back and the bottom of the feet.

  • I agree with OMGJAG31 We have a snot sucker and it works a dream and we also use saline drops for the nose and vicks for the chest.

  • You can buy baby Vicks and also (I know this is gross) a snot sucker

  • Missangela, Demazin should only be taken from 6 years of age.

The best things I’ve found for colds are vicks, nasal aspirators, a vapouriser for night and nap times, and lots and lots of water and mummy cuddles.

  • Demazin was one of the best products I have found because they make you very tired when you take it and you have a better night sleep. Just check with the pharmacist first.

  • How did it go So many useful tips

  • You have done a great job important tips for others to follow if faced with the same problem

  • Well I think I jinxed myself with that earlier response… Earlier this week my little one woke up with a runny nose and the most irritated swollen red eyes I have seen… Once again we did the Vicks on the feet thing and also the fluid. But this time on night 2, as it has been so cold I put our electric panel heater just outside her bedroom door… I also gave her a dose of Neurofen (babies) before bed as she has a couple of big teeth coming up that are bothering her… The very next morning she was 100% on what she had been and her incredibly runny nose seemed to have dried up completely… It was the oddest thing, it is the fastest I have seen anyone’s cold disappear ever!

  • We find the nasal aspirators are great if its a bad cold.
