Hello!

After having a amazing fourth pregnancy, labor was nothing like the last 3 and I was left with a 3rd degree tear. 2 months on I am still having issues and was wondering if anyone has any idea on low long till things go back to normal.

  • I also had 3rd degree tearing it can take months to heal

  • Everyone is different but mine took about 2 months. If you’re worried i’d go to the doctor to check

  • Hi, I had a 2nd degree tear, which took a couple of weeks to heal, but I have heard that a 3rd degree tear can take a couple of months

  • Imagine loosing your baby and having a tear! I nursed two wounds and had no choice but to do just that. I was prescribed Baenocine which I applied on the wound after sitting on hot salty water and rinsed the area thoroughly with betadine.

  • Should be healed 2-4 weeks but a third degree is not uncommon to take longer. I would go back to your Doctor & get it reviewed if you are experiencing pain 8weeks on, just to be sure.
Advice I give on a daily basis is: To tell if your tear/episiotomy has healed, gently place your finger about 1cm in the vagina & gently pulling down on the perineum (the area between the vagina & anus. If this is comfortable its healed. Also remember if you are breast feeding – then it can lead to a dry vagina so you may need to use lubricant.

  • Not sure what issues you are having but after my 2nd child I had serious pain. If i sat down to quickly i felt like i had needles in my pants that jabbed into me. Sex was a no go…way too painful. I ended up having to go into hospital for a small day surgery to correct things and then all was well. Dont just deal with things …go back to your Doc and let them know whats going on.

  • My 3rd degree tear healed in six weeks (but I have only had two children.)

  • Depending on what issues you’re referring to – it should have healed by now and not be painful. If it’s a continence thing that could take some time. I jumped on a trampoline at the park 6 months after having my bub and wet my pants
