Hello!

Hi MoM’s. Looking for some advice on a good way to switch my 14 month over to cows milk from formula. She will have a couple of mouthfuls out of a cup with her lunch but not much and won’t drink it out of the bottle. Would like to hear how other mums got their fussy drinkers over to cows milk ?

  • I’m in the process now and I give my Bub one bottle of formula and half bottle of cows milk as a top up at night just so he can get used to it. I’m half way through the formula tin and once I finish it, it will be cows milk in sippy cup.

  • She’s just over 12 months old, no need to rush the switch to cows milk just yet. To introduce it though, keep offering at lunchtime, have it over cereal etc introduce it gradually and she might not notice it as much

  • Cows milk came later, mine was much the same – have a little bit not much. The issue is calcium intake so as long as there is cheese, yogurt and other calcium rich foods then I wouldn’t worry. When she was 13months old I was pregnant again and craving milkshakes and got one in a take away cup. She screamed for it (I thought as if you even know what this is! Or how to use a straw for that matter! ) I handed the milkshake to her half in jest and she well, now she loves milk! Flavoured or unflavored

  • mix it with the formula, slowly adding more milk

  • Very informative!

  • Gradually add some cows milk in with her formula maybe.. slowly reduce the amount of formula

  • How did you end up going with the switch

  • we’re still struggling with this transition

  • i hope you’ve had success

  • how did you go? :)

  • Mine loved it but she was very constipated so I think the slow adjustment with a few mouthfuls at a time each day and slowly increasing would work better.

  • Hope you managed to find what you were after.

  • How did you go with her?

  • Try using a straw, make it fun maybe a spiral one so they can see the milk coming up the straw?

  • Did you have any luck in the end?

  • I would try mixing the formula with the cows milk and gradually increase the amount of cows milk and decrease formula until hopefully there is none in it at all.

  • Try it once a day then increase the number of times

  • Helpful advice Hope you have solved the problem
