I think it depends on what you are wanting to insure whilst on interstate travel. Emergencies would be covered under Medicare at hospital as long as you have a Medicare card. Not sure what other things you may need.

We always do. In case we can’t travel on that date or they damage our luggage. It’s one of those things you don’t really think you need, until you need it

It never hurts to haven travel insurance

I think insurance for any domestic travel is mainly if you want to cover for lost luggage etc. as you are still within Australia and I always take my medicare card just in case if you know what I mean . I’ve never bothered with it , but if then if your airfares are expensive and suddenly you had to cancel , then maybe it is worth having as airlines are really tough when it comes to refunds .

I’ve never taken out local travel insurance, only overseas and as long as we purchase our tickets with our CC, it is included with our CC provider. Depends on what type of things you will be doing on your trip I would think.

I prefer to travel having a travel insurance to feel “safer” in case something happen. Great if I don’t use it but better to have it.

I would recommend no. It is an extra expense. Healthcare will be the same as your residing state (most likely). In the event of lost baggage, the airline will do everything it can to recover it.

That depends a bit on how much you’ve paid. Supposing someone is ill and you can’t take the holiday, would you feel worse outlaying a smaller amount for insurance or losing a much larger amount if you had to cancel the holiday? I always take out insurance when booking a holiday, just in case!

We are also travelling very soon and no l don’t believe we will need it!

It probably depends on your circumstance. I’ve found the only “insurance” that we have used has been motor cover for breakdowns (can cover things like hire car, towing and accommodation depending on your level of cover) but that was on a roadtrip. But in general I would say ‘no’; insurance for domestic trips is not for us.But if there is something specific of concern for you it might be worth looking into what policies offer – often they cover things like cancellations, loss of property and specific risks for “dangerous activities” like handgliding or skiing where you could cause damage to someone/something else, or yourself, and have a big bill. If you are just worried about having to cancel you might be entitled to some refund even without insurance.
