Hello!

Is it safe from a health perspective to use non stick pots or pans that have wear and tear?

  • I would throw them out. I now only use stainless steel frypans and cookware.

  • The previous comment is exactly what I think too.

  • As long as the non stick coating isn’t flaking into your food, they should be fine. But the non stick properties will have reduced

  • I’ve always thrown my non stick cookware away when they started to peel. Now I mostly use cast iron or stainless steel to cook in as they are said to be safer options.

  • From past advice of others, I was informed it is best not to because the non-stick coating can be toxic if ingested. Pans can be bought at supermarkets now at reasonable prices so throw it out and get a new one .

  • I think it’s okay – I hope so!

  • as long as they are clean I think its fine

  • ooh yeah mine is starting to scratch up

  • I’d consider throwing it away. If the non stick surface is coming away that wold be quite dangerous.

  • Definitely not! The chemicals in the non stick could leech into your food

  • If the black non stick coating is coming up and peeling then throw them away. It is toxic. This is why I don’t buy them because to me, if it is toxic then why use them too cook with in the first place. For non stick I have stone wear. Yes it is more expensive but it works great. If I have to use oils I use only coconut oil, other than that I don’t use anything and all it needs is hot soapy water and soft cloth or sponge to clean, no harsh scrubbing.

  • yep – the danger comes in overheating the coating, not in any scratches

  • Yes I decided to bin it today.

  • I am wondering the same thing. Mine isn’t peeling just no longer nonstick. A bit disappointed as I don’t think I have had the pan for that long.

  • No,mite not good for your health at all if the non stick surface is peeling, throw them out as soon as possible. An exxy request I know, but a necessary one
