Hello!

Hi, I’ve recently dropped breast feeds so am only feeding morning and night and have noticed I don’t feel the “let down” anymore? My son seems satisfied but I worry, is he getting the hind milk?

  • It doesnt matter if he is or not.

  • Allow your baby to feed as long as he wants from each breast and don’t cut it short.
Signs your baby may be experiencing a foremilk-hindmilk imbalance include: crying, and being irritable and restless after a feeding. changes in stool consistency like green-colored, watery, or foamy stools. fussiness after feedings.

  • He will let u know if not!

  • Probably far too late now but you could try feeding only one side per feed so that he completely drains it perhaps.

  • how are you going now?

  • So hard with all the changes when you are breastfeeding. I was told by a midwife that your baby would left you know if there was a problem but not sure if she was just trying to be reassuring!

  • Hope your son is going well with his feeds.

  • How are you going now?

  • There is a visual difference between the initial let don and the hind milk. Hand express just a little and you should get a pretty good indication.

  • How is it all going since you posted this?

  • If there is no change in your baby, then he is content with what he is getting.

  • How did you end up going?

  • He will let u knowif he is not getting enough!

  • I didn’t always feel a ‘let down’ sensation, only in the beginning, and more so when I was breastfeeding my second child.

  • But is he hvn solids now too

  • The reason you don’t feel the “let down” anymore is because you have cut down breastfeeding and your milk is drying up :-)

  • Yes if he seems satisfied he is fine a baby will always let you know when there hungry and if his really healthy there’s no need to worry :)

  • Also make sure they drink plenty of water.

  • I only do morning and night feeds now to and I don’t get the let down I used to get as well, but my babies feel content cause if they don’t they will let you know. They are eating lots of solids now so to me I wouldn’t worry to much.

  • How old is your son?
