We’ve had no problems using it but I think you do need to be careful. It’s not regulated by law in VIC (as far as I’m aware it’s just ACT) around background checks, vehicle inspections and insurance.

Check the fees before you use any service! When travelling to the airport I never use uber or taxis, I always use a private car/chauffeur service. It’s always a fixed price so you know what you are going to pay and is far more reliable than a taxi (i,e, they always turn up on time). They are also waiting at the terminal when you come home and take your bags to the car so it’s a nice service as well and the cars are lovely, For me it costs no average $5 more than a taxi but I am happy to pay a bit more for this service. I have used Uber several times in Sydney CBD while visiting – a lot cheaper, nicer polite drivers, faster and more reliable than the rude, costly (they tend to take you the long way – especially if they think you are from out of town) and slow usual taxis!

Like with any service – check fees before you use the service.

They (Uber) can be risky late at night and vey expensive., we have found that even with a $15 premium, that Silver Service are the best option taxi service.

Uber taxi is better than other taxi service

I’ve never used it but recently read that they greatly over charged during New Years and vey negative reviews because of it, so I agree read the five print.

I have heard it good to use, but when booking read all fine print due to surge charges on public holidays and special events. it will have the costs and if there is a surge it should say X(times) ??? . But a normal day i gather they are cheaper.
