Hello!

Lip balm recommendations? Does anyone else find that some lip balms make you feel like you have to keep re-applying or even make your lips worse!? I can never seem to find a good one that just nourishes my lips. I don’t want gloss or any other super benefits. Just a nice moisturising one that keeps them feeling smooth. Any recommendations? I feel like I’ve tried to lot – they feel okay for a few uses but after a few days just don’t help (Paw paw, blistex, vaseline, chapstick etc)

  • When looking for products to use on your chapped lips, dermatologists recommend ones that contain one or more of the following:

    Castor seed oil.
    Ceramides.
    Dimethicone.
    Hemp seed oil.
    Mineral oil.
    Petrolatum.
    Shea butter.
Sun-protective ingredients, such as titanium oxide or zinc oxide.

Make sure you also drink plenty of water !

  • I use Vaseline in the tub as it’s cheap and keeps my lips moisturised

  • I think Nipple balm (like lansinoh) does wonders for the lips.

  • A lot of lip balms have added ingredients that can sometimes aggravate dry or irritated lips. I’ve found the best thing is a small tube of paw paw ointment – great handbag or pocket size, easy to apply and good for your lips.

  • Wow I’ve been told paw paw was the way to go but if that doesn’t work?!? I personally always get nivea. Depending on the season I get different ones. Winter the dark blue one. Autumn and Spring the light blue. And Summer the reddish pink one or light blue.

  • I only use Vaseline now as when I used blister I was reapplying constantly throughout the day.

  • That is exactly why it’s not recommended to always use lip balm! I use Paw Paw ointment

  • Your lips sounds very dry and some people like a friend of mine is happy with chapstick that does the trick for her. I am currently using The body shop lip butter which is really nice and moisturising , and I found Carmex is quite good . I think saliva makes it drier so try not to lick your lips too much as well /

  • Lip smackers or chapstick works for us

  • I get dehydrated really easy and my lips are nearly always dry – that was until i tried baby lips by maybeline. only the plain one (mango pie i think) and its is awesome. No sticky residue, smells yummy, I put it on a few times a day and notice a change with 48 hrs.

  • It may cost a bit more than usual but the brand sukin is an australian brand and has the best lip balm ever invented by far!

  • nutri rich oil is great soft lips

  • paw paw cream. or ‘sukin’ natural lip balm is the best but costly.

  • I have used “wool fat” it is inexpensive and is made from lanolin, the oil that is extracted from the wool of sheep. It is the best moisturizer and stays on an d does not dry out lips. I have tried many however this has been the best. It even doubles as a lip gloss and can be applied over lipstick. It is bought in a small jar to which a clean lip brush or cotton bud can be used to apply each time. It can be applied to other parts of the body as well. It has many uses and is great for sensitive skin, especially baby’s bottom!

  • pop in to your local health food store and ask them. Or try just plain coconut butter/oil.

  • My favourite all time lip balm is Honey Trap from Lush, you only need the smallest amount which lasts for ages.

  • I use to make lip balm ,main ingredient is bees wax &almond oil ,are the base ,then add taste by essential oils ,I used peppermint,

  • Burts bee’s lipbalm is the best and really helps in winter with those dry sore lips highly recommend

  • I love the Maybelline baby lips! Tastes yummy too!

  • Burts Bees Lipbalm or Carmex are the only ones I use now. They’re both great, they stay on for ages, don’t feel like I’ve got an inch of grease on my lips, and they’re brilliant to treat dry lips or prevent chapping.
