Hello!

There is a free clinic for the ACWY vaccine in my area next week but it is two days before we fly away for the weekend. My question is has anyone’s baby’s had side effects from the vaccine? And if so how long did they last? My baby is 4 months old and It will be her first time flying so I’d like her experience to be as positive as possible. I’d hate to drag her away for the weekend if she ends up feeling miserable!

  • Side effects are rare and generally mild when they do happen. Maybe delay vaccination til you return. Or pack panadol in case side effects do occur

  • I don’t want to scare you but just FYI My then 7 week old had his and he screamed like I’ve never heard before on and off for hours afterwards and was fussy for a few days. It was his first time being vaccinated though. Good luck I think it’s worth getting it done.

  • Why not delay the vaccine until you return? Check out information on this website: http://www.avn.org
Also you can get some homeopathy remedies to help with vaccination side effects, as a preventative measure it is given before the vaccine, see a good homeopathy doctor.

  • No side effects from this vaccination apart from a small red lump around the injection site which didn’t seem to bother her

  • No, we didn’t really have side effects.

  • We had a little redness at the injection site, a bit of a lump, but daughter was otherwise fine. We gave her panadol at bedtime just in case it was sore.
