The critical thing is the age of your youngest child: if they’re bored or scared, you’re in trouble. Check out Disney classics, and anything by Pixar. We’ve recently started on 80s movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Back to the Future, but our youngest is finding some of those too scary. Comedies seem safest.

The Home Alone movies, Matilda, Mrs Doubtfire, Miracle On 34th Street, Smoky Mountain Christmas, The Santa Claus movies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mr Bean, Batman movies, Madagascar, Smurfs, The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe, A Pigs Tale, Babe 1 & 2, Charlotte’s Web, Jumanji, & don’t forget the classics Cinderella, Beauty & The Beast, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, The Magic Faraway Tree.

Disney/Pixar movies are usually great for all. But also consider Studio Ghibli movies like Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro.

Love any disney or dreamworks movies, they are great fun and have some good laughs. Love Ice Age. I think it’s hilarious

My kids love Despicable Me 1/2, Finding Nemo & the smurf movies. Chipmunks is also a good one if you have adults.

It is sometimes hard to find what one person likes, so depending how many in the family, get each to make a suggestion, put them into a hat, draw out one, and then see if your local video shop has it in. This way everybody gets a say, and one will be extremely lucky. If not this idea, when you go to hire, ask t he s taff, tell them what your family likes are, and ask for suggestions from them. I find my local video shop knows all the new ones, and can be most hellpful when I need something different.. try it anyway

We have enjoyed this year son 3.5 years old Despicable me, Frozen, Cars, Planes and Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Hope this helps
