Hello!

She will drink half of the bottle (around 100mls) and then its a fight to get her to drink anymore. She is fed 4hrly and is only having 4 bottles a day as she sleeps from 7pm-6:30am. Is this normal? is it possible she doesn’t like the formula she is on? she is happy and healthy otherwise.

  • As long as baby grows, gains weight, is happy and has plenty of wet nappies, I wouldn’t worry about it. Kids go through growth spurts, followed by periods of pla·teau·ing.

  • Don’t use plastic bottles , especially if heated in a micro wave yo would be poisoning her. Probably her formula has something to do with it. Is she eating any other foods , if she is getting nutrition from other sources then as long as she is putting on weight and growing good. It is amazing how they know what is best for them.

  • Maybe go see the GP if this keeps recurring hun.

  • if she is sleeping throughout the night, then count your blessings, if she is gaining weight and healthy then don’t worry about it

  • She will eat more if she is hungry. As long as she doesn’t lose weight it sounds fine!

  • there are some good comments here

  • if shes hungry she would take more, just as long as shes not looseing weight i think it be fine

  • Sounds totally normal to me! U hv a good baby

  • I’m sure if she is hungry she will let you know.

  • All babies are different. If she is still gaining weight and is healthy and happy just make sure she is getting plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration – try giving water regularly between feeds.

  • Babies generally only drink what they need, if she is gaining weight appropriately dont stress too much, it may just be a phase, growth spurts can be quite dramatic in little ones.

  • they do go through different cycles with eating but have a chat to your health nurse and see what they suggest in relation to weight and formulas

  • Check her weight according to her growth pattern. Babies do have times when they don’t want to eat as not growth spurt is there. If you are really worried because of the hot days approaching nothing wrong with ringing up your Maternal nurse and express your worries. That’s what they are there for you and bub.

  • How is bub going? Did you get your answer? I think this is normal..

  • if your baby still has wet nappies and is content she should be ok. if you are concerned speak with your maternal child health nurse. kids appetites can come and go, they usually will eat when hungry.

  • the formula you have for your daughter should advise how many feeds per day she should be having. if she is putting on weight and content I wouldn’t worry too much but if you have any concerns speak to your local gp.

  • Make sure she has enough fluids, give her water but only after she has had her milk.

  • the best part about babues is they dont over eat like adults do when they are full they are full – if she is happy and has good bowel movements then i wouldnt change

  • If she is sleepy well. Not cranky and seems healthy. I’d say it’s quite fine. I’m sure you’ll find there will be time where she will want more. But if she’s content. Don’t worry. You’re doing a great job :)
