Hello!

Advice.

Any one else’s kid just completely oblivious to what’s going on around them….? My son 6.5, is always in his own world, he can’t focus on any task for more then a few minutes before he just moves on and disappears into his world and will go do something else, I had his eyes tested today as I thought he was struggling to see n he’s got perfect 20/20 vision. He has NO, road since what so ever even though I repeatedly shown him how to cross th road. His 4 yo could (but knows not to) cross th road safely, and she tells me when it’s save to cross. He has to touch EVERYTHING, no matter how many times u say please don’t, seconds (it is not an exaggeration) he is fiddling with things again. Please tell me this is simply a boy thing. It’s driving me nuts

  • I’d see your GP and get a referral for a pediatrician for further investigation. it will help settle your mind and they can refer you to an occupational Therapist who can provide you with some handy strategies to support his learning and your sanity :)

  • children are still learning at this age about everything, so it can be seen as normal.
but like the other mums on here, I agree, that if it worries you, please take them to a GP that specializes in child behavior, that way you can at least get peace of mind

  • His behaviour does sound challenging to manage, mainly when it’s about safety. Which can be really exhausting as a parent. Please discuss this behaviour with your GP and they will be able to help you get in contact with the right resources that may be available for your son and you. Best of luck.

  • Please don’t be alarmed or scared but have you considered the possibility of ASD, it’s not scary and if this is the underlying issue a diagnosis leads to support and education on how best to manage these quirks. There are some good resources online where you can do some quizzes and see if there any any red flags. Big hugs mumma x

  • See your gp or chat to the school and see if they have noticed any concerns.

  • It sounds pretty normal fr a boy that age.

  • See your GP for some peace of mind. All kids are different and they will be able to give you the best advice and strategies.

  • Have you seen a GP or a pediatrician?
