  • I think high blood pressure is something that can pop up any time in life. Good luck with it

  • Only your doctor can help you with this. I’ve never experienced this and I would think it’s not common

  • There are meds that you can take which are safe for breastfeeding. High blood pressure is silent a killer so you need to take something.

  • It certainly happened to me. There are some very mild meds you can take – my doctor didn’t feel they’d be enough for me in the long term, but for a few months before I finished breastfeeding, they were a helpful bridge. Ask about it.

  • Get advice from your gp is the way to go

  • I haven’t experienced it but talk to your GP or local health centre nurse they should be able to give you the best advice.

  • If you experienced pre-eclampsia or gestational hypertension during your pregnancy, you are at higher risk of developing high blood pressure in the future. Has this been since your son was born, or a little more recent? High blood pressure can be dangerous, so please discuss all your concerns with your GP regarding treatment options. Rodney White is also a fabulous resource to discuss medications too.

  • How high is your blood pressure and did you have preeclampsia during the pregnancy as well ?
Postpartum hypertension may persist for several weeks
Gestational hypertension and preeclampsia (two common causes of persisting postpartum hypertension) usually resolve by 12 weeks.
Your little boy is 10 months, so that’s a long period.
When your blood pressure is dangerously high, most likely medication is the road to go.
Absolutely something to discuss with your Gp !

  • Maybe talk to your gp. Good luck
