Hello!

We are looking at buying a new pram for our first baby. We will be having the next baby not long after and want to have a double option and bassinet. What pram do you recommend?

  • I would recommend you go pram shopping. Check some out. One is sure to jump out at you. It’s part of the fun of having a baby, doing the shopping

  • Uppa baby vista, city select or icandy are the three ones I narrowed it down to for myself. I wanted a convertible tandem pram. Whatever you get make sure it fits well in your car boot before you buy it! Ours only just fits!

  • city select or a strider pram

  • I love the city select! baby jogger

  • I have the Baby jogger city select & I love it! We got it because we were planning to have kids 2-3yrs apart & I didn’t want 1 of my kids squashed in the basket underneath. My 3yo still fits comfortably & when we go for short trips I just take it as a single pram. The handle adjusts high enough that my husband can push it comfortably & its light enough for me to get it in & out of my car easily.

  • Have a look at the city select range they do some great twin prams at reasonable prices

  • Depends on many things, we went with a mountain one in the end. We went to a few baby shops talked our needs over and they showed us the different options

  • We found our local baby shop was most helpful with this — they showed us everything and recommended things that actually for our needs, not just what had the highest price tag. We didn’t go in with any specific brands or anything in mind so I think this helped a lot for us!

  • Mountain Buggy Plus One. We bought this for the same reason. It’s a sturdy pram and is easy to get accessories and replacement parts for, our son is two now although we haven’t had a second child yet, it’s not too big for one child and can be adjust quite easily. You do need to have a largeish boot on your car though, but it’s great for being out and about with.

  • We bought, on the recommendation of MANY of our friends, the Steelcraft Strider – it has the regular seat, plus the optional Bassinet, Capsule & toddler seat. We were in the same boat, we wanted to buy just one and have it last awhile… We haven’t had the baby yet but I have since pushed my friends kids in their striders & it’s so easy!! I already love it & haven’t even used it for myself.
We bought the pram, the capsule & the bassinet second hand as separate items. The pram had been used, but the bassinet had only been used once or twice as was the capsule – so all great quality.
The pram itself has only been on the market for just under 2 years (one of my friends just missed out on it but the next one got in) and the fact that I was able to get those parts so far second hand has been great. Once the baby arrives, we’ll start looking at toddler seats but I’m sure they’ll be around by then.
    Good luck!!

  • There are quite a few good prams out there so we looked at a few options. When number 2 came along we sold our mountain buggy swift as it was only a single, loved, loved, loved that stroller and mountain buggy have maybe 3 different strollers with option for second seat. The strider is good, it has a wider base than some and bugaboo have the donkey which is a double. After looking online and at mums and dads in the streets, we ended up getting the baby jogger city select. The main reason was that hubby liked the idea that the seats could be in a position where both kids could see forward and not facing the back of the stroller. We have an 8month and almost 3 yr old. You can get bassinet option or if you have a capsule, you can get the connector. It’s great as a single and a double but gets heavier with second seat but I’m guessing that’s with a lot of prams.
Look online, go to choice and productreviews.com.au and just go to a store with a good selection to try some out, especially opening, closing and looking at size for your boot.

  • My sister has the Steelcraft strider and I find that it maneuvers well, only downside for me is the width of the back wheels, but my sister insists it fits down shopping aisles easily. It’s also got great storage.

  • I used the steelcraft strider 3wheeler for my two who are 13 months apart. You can get all the extra fittings (bassinett, second seat, car capsule attachment). Its quite easy to push around. It does take up a lot of room in the boot of my car, but I’d say all two seaters would. Goodluck!

  • I’ve just recently purchased the “bugaboo cameleon 3″ pram. It’s got a bassinet, very easy to fold and is the most easiest pram I’ve ever pushed, I even take it on the sand :) it’s pricey but definitely worth it and I’m pretty sure you can get another pram in the bugaboo range that had the double option which looks fantastic!

  • I’d recommend checking out Choice.com.au. They’ve done comprehensive testing on many pram types and can tell you everything including the safest, most durable and lightest types. Hope this helps.
