Hello!

“Hi again, was wondering if you could post this question for all the Mums. Need a little bit of help.
I’m due in less than 2wks and I’d like to know if there’s a certain type of washing power I should be using to wash my newborns clothes? And is it safe to use fabric softener? If so, what brand? Thanks in advance, ladies”

  • You are bring so proactive, never even thought of that one . Always washed it with normal powder throughout the kids lives. There is a new line called Omo Sensitive Liquid Laundry detergent , so maybe use something like that to be safe. There are also organic ones as well. I used to wash the kids clothes separately from the adults and used normal powder and there has never been any reaction in the family .

  • I use only liquid laundry detergent, then I don’t need to worry about the powder dissolving properly. I was always told to avoid chemicals of all kinds when washing baby clothes, especially nappies and singlets. I found they didn’t wash properly and dried hard and crusty if I didn’t use fabric softener and detergent. I had no troubles. I think the key is to keep it to a minimum

  • Any wash powder is fine. I know, delicate baby skin. Just do baby clothes on their own with correct measurements in powder. Dilute first so you dont get powder lumps.

  • Lux flakes; very soft and gentle on sensitive skin.

  • I used one for sensitive skin for all my baby clothes. Didn’t last long though eventually got mixed in with the rest.

  • I recommend lux flakes add them to your machine wash it’s great powder and good for the clothes and babies.

  • Use Lux flakes dissolved in hot water first before adding to machine. Use hot water then warm or cold rinse and sun dry on the clothesline if possible. You will have brilliant white nappies, that smell beautiful. A conditioner is not necessary as this may irritate your baby’s skin. Make sure your nappies are presoaked in Nappisan solution overnight. I would wash the baby clothes in a separate load using lux. As your child gets older you can then use Omo etc in the load.

  • My recommendation are OMO or SURF .

  • Lux flakes was recommended to me.

  • Have a look for something natural/organic .:)

  • Wool wash is also a very mild choice and good for a bit of hand washing too.

  • My Mum always tells me to use LUX Soap Flakes.

  • earths choice washing liquid. only $2 for 1L gentle as anything dont need alot and fabulous. Plus earth friendly. Also has a eucalyptus one that smells lovely HIGHLY recommend it

  • OMO Sensitive Liquid is good as well

  • OMO Sensitive Powder is what we use

  • I was also told lux flakes were very good to use, my own mum used them to wash mine and my siblings clothes as babies.

  • I used omo sensitive this is a very good product.

  • I always use omo! And always use a fabric softener too! I don’t see y u can’t!

  • How did it go hope you came up with a powder that suited your needs

  • I used the same washing powder as I use for our clothes and fabric softener. Both are Aldi brand. Almaty washing powder and the 2l white fabric softener. The only time I had a problem after dd was born was when I used a very strong fragrance fabric softener (don’t remember brand name) she came out in a rash. I know a few friends who use the Aldi Trimat sensitive cause their babies had a small reaction to regular.
