Hello!

I am using SO many of the plastic snack bags to take biscuits, sandwiches, snack bars in my baby’s lunchbox. It’s not things I can just pack in the lunchbox separately and do need to keep them wrapped. I throw out so many when I get home. Does anyone have any recommendations on good, reusable snack bags?

  • Yes, I use bento style and nudie style lunch boxes as well. The Nudie lunchbox comes with several small pots. But Myer sells reusable snack bags and you can get them also of ebay

  • For lunch we use plastic containers that seal very well and wrap sandwiches in glad!

  • I use sinchies, but also bought a yumbox, it is bento style lunchbox which means we don’t need lots of bags and containers. My kids love them.

  • I use a small container for biscuits and snacks as I found the snack bags get dirty and it doesn’t seem right to wash and dry them (some people do). I use Glad brand but heard Aldi brand are just as good

  • Another option would be to wash and dry the snap lock bags and re-use them. Depending on what you’ve had in them, this often works fine for several uses.

  • We use all the nudie food containers , they have so many from muffin keepers to wrap containers

  • I have been using sandwich boxes and sandwich paper, seems to work well!

  • Try some reusable containers :)

  • We use snaplock containers, also there’s food quality lined sandwich wraps nowadays, as well as Tupperware containers for the variety of snacks we use every day. If you use the voghurts that are in singular size, you can get sinchies to refill and make your own mixtures.

  • well a pack of homebrand freezer small bags is 65c for 100. then you can use as much as you like and not worry about cost or hygiene. i used to put everything into clip seals but my mother gave me this tip and instead of spending $5 per week, i spend 65c every few months. give it a go! it will save you $20 per month and $240 a year!

  • I use snap lock plastic bags and wash them up and hang them on the cloths line to dry. The only time I would not reuse them is when they have had meat directly in them (these get binned) but snacks and fruit etc, the bags get washed and reused a few times.

  • There are a few facebook pages around that sell reusable food pouches, https://www.facebook.com/Sinchies is one of them that is suitable for yoghurts and runny foods. Apparently BigW and Target sell little reusable freezer safe containers that you can put food in too, and they are awesome.
Make sure whatever you buy is BPA free – some things still aren’t.

  • we use containers in our home to. you will find lots of schools these day have a no waste policy

  • Hi we use the smack lunch containers
    The round stackable ones.
As my theory is reduces waste being in school grounds.
And saves money as can be washed and reused. Also boys cant say the bag solit open and went every where.

  • I use little plastic containers with lids. Much easier to wash than bags and food and fruit doesn’t get squashed.

  • Have you seen the Sinchie reusable food pouches?

  • Ikea plastic bags all the way in this home, we found the others just don’t go the distance

  • We use the no frills reusable bags from woolworths or Coles. They work a treat for the drier foods . For the sticky or moist food, use a plastic food container. That stops a lot of waste,,,n good luck

  • We use reusable snack bags for kindy. As for them disappearing – hasn’t happened yet. I have put my sons name on every one of them with labels. Here is a weblink with loads of options. http://www.limetreekids.com.au/category-sandwich-bags-snack-pockets-586.aspx
