Hello!

I was told once a meat has been cooked it can only be reheated once. So if I bought a BBQ chook that’s already cooked then after refridgerated used it to make a soup.. to then put soup in fridge and reheat tomorrow would be a big risk to eat? Am I right or wrong? Please help as I wanted to do this tonight and yes my toddlers would eat it tomorrow. Thanks

  • I would not reheat chicken twice!

  • I’m fairly sure you’d be safe to reheat and eat the soup as the meat has been cooked to a high heat.

  • You can reheat the soup again as the soup has also been cooked (that’s my understanding anyway)

  • Sounds fine! Really interesting reading the comments to this!

  • that sounds fine. i have made chicken and gravy rolls from the leftovers

  • Chicken can get bacteria in very quickly. Only reheat once. My younger brother was hospitalized for 2 months with salmonella that went into toxic shock and shut his entire body down and it was all from reheated chicken.

  • there are some good comments here

  • chicken can only be reheated once.

  • O know chicken is one of the meats that we should be more fussy about when it comes to reheating but I think your soup will be fine!

  • how dd it go? :)

  • What did you end up doing?

  • I wouldn’t refrigerate the pre cooked chicken before making the soup if you could help it then it hasn’t been reheated yet.

  • I’ve done it as soup and lived to tell the tale

  • Good question. Have often wondered this myself as I buy Coles chickens frequently but will only re-heat once.

  • never had a issue with re- heating chicken. better over cooked then under cooked.

  • I think it should be fine :) I would do it.

  • You will be cooking it again, not just reheating, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

  • A lot of useful answers

  • i think it should be fine i do that alot

  • it will be fine
