  • My kids are adults now so not really an issue for me atm. I never did get the balance right when I had young kids at home

  • Deep breaths througout the day.
Sit down for a cuppa and soak up some sun (even when it’s just for soem minutes.
Go on time to bed with a book to unwind

  • I used to use occasional care once a month or so and go shopping or do an appointment by myself.

  • Spend atleast 15 minutes alone with yourself without technology

  • I find a warm or hot shower before bed really helps me unwind and calm down. There’s Palmolive naturals anti stress bodywash that I find amazing

  • I make sure to always have at least a couple mins to myself at the end of the day just to unwind.

  • Be present in the moment. I know that sounds so silly, but really immerse yourself in what you are doing.
Try to get 15 minutes a day for you.
Paint your nails, learn that French braid, make yourself that meal you saw on Facebook and think about each step you take, without any other thoughts.
If your into meditation or mindfulness, that can help, too.

  • Support! Ask for help and book in that massage and do a bit of shopping while you’re there! But I know what its like when you are alone also with no support. In that case I would say, you need to relax while baby sleeps or kids are pre occupied. Like watch a show, have a wine, have a bath etc! Also go outside and get exercise! Even just a simple walk around the block with the kids does the world of difference. I always felt soo much better afterwards.

  • Practice. In that there will be times you feel ‘guilty’ about taking some time for yourself. The more you do it the more youl realise how much you deserve it. Even if its a 20min walk outside. While doing a food shop take a book and have a coffee at a coffee shop before hand. :)

  • Sometimes I got out for half an hour when hubby gets home.just to read a book in the park. It’s really calming.

  • Combine it – do laundry and watch tv. Listen to audiobooks while you run errands. Mlamd make sure to have real time to adore your kids.

  • I love having a bath with a good book.
    Adult mindfulness colouring
    Walks on the beach
    Puzzles
All things I love to do just for me that ‘full my cup’

  • The neuroscience of self love is a great book that has fantastic suggestions.

  • Hubby is a shift worker so it’s basically single mum life for me. The only self care I take is my face routine after my shower at night!

  • At every red light, whilst driving, when the lights red take a moment to take a deep breath in & then exhale. It helps keep me grounded to continue my busy day. This is ajust an example. You could also do it when unlocking the front door.

  • So glad you asked this! My husband works away and my self care is zero atm, something I really need to work on.

  • I make sure not to skip meals and take snacks so my energy level doesnt drop. Also try to take a good night sleep when i can

  • I also have an exercise routine, it really does help with maintaining balance in all things. Exercise also releases feel good endorphins.

  • I always kept up my hobby, just a little a day. Whether it’s gardening, sewing, a craft or cooking. Take the time to do something you enjoy. Make it a priority as much as doing the washing.

  • I make sure I prioritise even the little things. Making sure I have lunch and snacks for me. A simple quick coffee to enjoy. Can someone watch your baby for an hour to have some time to yourself? IT doesn’t have to be major or for a long time, sometimes it’s the little things to keep you going. BUT….it’s making sure you do it…which I am terrible at. It’s not easy.
