Hello!

I have a build up of Shampoo/Conditioner on my scalp hence looking for ways of stripping it off. I recently changed brands but still feels the same. Any tips would be great :)

  • Wash your hair less.

  • Apple cider vinegar. the dark murky kind in abottle. mix a half cup with a half cup water. drench hair..wrap in towel for fifteen mimutes ..wash hair as normal.
    youll feel wonderful
do once a week for awhile for new you!!!

  • The tea tree shampoo has worked wonders. Thanks for all your suggestions :)

  • I use Apple Cider Vinegar for a weekly rinse.

  • Thanks everyone. I have used the bicarb and have tea tree oil in the cupboard so will also give that a go

  • I have the same problem, and accidentally discovered the power of tea tree after my son had nits and I treated us all. The nit treatment (which is tea tree based) solved the problem.

So I now I (literally) kill two birds with one stone and use the nit treatment every few weeks. Works a treat!

  • Bicarb soda – teaspoon in with water. Mix together. Pour over scalp and scrub. It doesn’t foam but will clean it out.

  • never use conditioner on your scalp or roots, even if your hair is short. if its short dont use conditioner at all just spray a tiny bit of leave in conditioner on your hands and gently rub the tips, if your hair is long only put conditioner in the lengths, from about the bottom of your ears. my mum is a hair dresser and she sees heaps of people trying to manage their hair actually damaging it and wondering why its not getting better.

  • I use Herbal Essence “Drama Clean” daily an no longer have a residue problem. I have used Neutrogena anti-residue shampoo in the past and that works well.

  • Thanks for asking this question and thanks for all of the answers.

  • Wash your hair, condition and rinse as usual, then use 1 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar for a final rinse.

  • Tea Tree Oil Shampoo is great. Just wash gently rinse and wash again. Removes all buildup, then use normal conditioner. Can go back yo your normal shampoo and conditioner and it’s great

  • tea tree shampoo will get rid of it may take a few washes but works well.

Also if you have children at school will keep the Nits away only need to use once a week and should not see any unwanted visitors in childrens hair.

  • Years ago when this happened to me – I used Nutrogena Hair Cleanser. Nowdays I wash my hair only once every 10 days or so, with a bit of bicarb soda and a rinse with a bit of (watered down) apple cider vinegar.

  • Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar. That should help it get back to normal.

  • I have this same problem. I have tried so many types of shampoos etc. Personally, I try to wash my hair only every second day and I don’t use conditioner, just a leave in spray on conditioner which seems to make the problem a lot better. I will keep following this to see if there are other solutions for me too.

  • A shampoo containing teatree oil might help.

  • buy a good clarifying shampoo and conditioner! i was a hairdresser in a previous life lol. besides the feel of your hair, the only other effect that the build up might have, is if you get your hair coloured and the colour might not take very well. this effect is much more noticeable if the hair is lightened and if you dye your own hair. good luck!

  • Apply cold pressed coconut oil to your hair and scalp, wear a shower cap covering for several hours or even overnight, then shampoo and rinse your hair with vinegar it works well. You may need to change the products you are using. If your hair is not colored or permed you don’t need conditioner, use a good quality shampoo that does not contain sodium laurel sulphates. Use only a very small amount of shampoo on wet hair. Neways, Plant Essentials, Perfect Potion are very economical and good quality products.
