Should I wait for the 2014 Perth Baby Expo?

Hello!

I’m a soon to be first time mum in Oct and wondering if it was worth waiting to buy big ticket items at the Perth baby expo? I’ve heard many mums were disappointed with the expo in Brisbane. Even though we are on a very tight budget and yet to enter the housing market nightmare. We thought it would be worthwhile buying (new):

Infa secure carseat (0-8 years) $279 (at shops)
Pram (probably Phil and Teds navigator with double kit) ($699 total) (at shops atm)

Everything else we were considering secondhand to buy at a later date. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank You moms!

We bought our carseat at the baby expo and got 25% off however we didn’t get as many samples as I thought there would be.

To be honest I would probably save the entrance fee and look around online. I bought my pram online and saved about $150 (it was $800 in the shops, $600 online plus delivery).

The Expos arent in it to geive you savings, they are there to make quick bucks and take advantage of impulse buyers. Kmart, Target and BigW have gorgeous baby items, at an affordable price.

I went and didn’t think I got any great deals, probably 6 lucky Mums get prizes. Not worth it. You will find things on sale if you are looking now.

I don’t think that you actually get that much discount at places like expos to be honest anymore.
I think they just make out that your saving a load of money and most people will just impulse buy on the spot as the seller will be like “this price for the next 30 minutes” when in fact it’s not much less than a store and problem more than when a store has them on sale.
Maybe just go for a look around and get some ideas.

Nope you can borrow things these days or even try and get second house put a shout out most people know someone who has something to loan or sell cheap. If you HAVE to buy then I’d go to somewhere like kmart / big w where you can at least get something back (loyalty pts etc)
