Does anyone have any recommendations for soothing music to help a 6 month old sleep? Thanks

  • thats a great question, ive never really thought about soothing music!

  • My son really likes the “nature” sounds like a rainforest or ocean waves crashing. You can usually download some good apps with these sounds.

  • I used any music that we listened to in the car, that way if we travelled long distances he would sleep in the car without us having to listen to lullabys. Unfortunately I now have a 4 year old that loves midnight oil and war of the worlds (thanks to hubby)

  • I used nature ones of the ocean. My kids still love it

  • I use white noise from the womb. My baby sleeps with this every night and has done since 3 days old. Drowns out any noise we make and let’s him know it’s sleep time. He’s 8 months old.

  • Putamayo has dreamland CDs that are lovely, my favourites are African and Celtic dreamland.

  • i love jewel lullaby :)

  • Search for some ‘rockabyes’… They are rock and pop songs that have been turned into lullabies. Great for the bubs and fun for the mums and dads to listen to

  • I was always told that small babies prefer Baroque music – something to do with the rhythm. Not sure if it’s true, but it always relaxes me!

  • Enya is a great one they always having it playing in spas!

  • Jewel has a Lullaby cd. I LOVE IT! can be purchased from Target in the baby section

  • nature sounds or wood instruments are always very soothing

  • It may sound funny but AC/DC have a lullaby CD my kids loved it. And not what you expect.

  • White noise is great. You can even download a white noise app to your iPhone and play it that way. Even something as simple as a fan in the room can do wonders

  • Baby Beethoven! Puts me to sleep too!

  • Close the door and go and do the vaccuuming, I use to and everytime I had finished he was asleep.

  • I got a free cd from panadol and it works great. My daughter also likes the sounds on one of those light up toys with stars too.

  • Brahms, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, any gentle classical music is great to play for babies, or children of any age. Perhaps not ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ though when they’re trying to sleep ;D

  • I found nature sounds worked best

  • I found White Noise the most effective. The radio tuned to static worked really well or you can download apps for Baby White noise on your phone.
