Hello!

Hi. I have developed quite dry and brittle fingernails recently. I’m wondering if anyone might have any recommendations for an effective nail treatment? Thanks in advance.

  • Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutritional deficiency causes of cracked nails. The body also requires proteins and B vitamins to effectively build strong, healthy nails.

  • Are you getting enough essential vitamins and minerals, drinking enough water? Have you started on medication? Also if you are dieting, it can affect your nails. Maybe see your GP for a blood test to see if your body is deficient in something. All the best.

  • If you go to the Sally Hanson area in the dept stores such as Myer, Target, Priceline etc you will find a lot of choices. I have S.H Diamond nail hardener which I sometimes use if I feel like it and stops my nails from chipping as I have soft nails too .

  • yes buy some cuticle oil and rub it in. get more vitamin d and eat more calcium rich foods. Go to your nail salon and get them to shellac the nail to make it stronger.

  • Thanks again HopefullyHeidi. You are a wealth of information! ;)

  • Scholl have a treatment, and I think even Eulactol now have one as well.
