Forum Thinking about stopping breastfeeding nearly 22 months old, any ideas?

My nearly 22 months old son loves breastfeeding. I do too but he wakes up quite a lot at night and with 2 other children is quite tiring.
Any suggestions how to make it easy for him and me? Thank you ???? tbh

  • Wow youve done well to breast feec at near 2yo. My kids self weaned around 10 months of age. The more solids they ate, the less they wanted breast and the better they slept at night

  • Swap out that “boob” time for something else that is special for him

  • Can you taper off? If you want to keep breast feeding, keeping it to one feed a day should ke it easier. If you want to stop, tapering would be less jarring than just stopping.

  • I think it is important to replace that special time with maybe cuddles or reading book wile having a bottle, as I think that is what he is going to miss most and doesn’t want to let go..

  • I just stopped…dropped to one feed before bedtime…then after few days just stoped.

  • Is he warm enough and is he eating enough food during the day?

  • I would gently wean reduce number if feeds and replace with a special cup or bottle
